Our family law firm was established in 2000, with the aim of offering top-quality divorce and family law services to the people of Santa Clara County.

Attorney Sandra McManus has an excellent reputation in San Jose and the surrounding area as an experienced, compassionate divorce lawyer. She always fights for the best interests of her family law clients, whether by settling their case out of court or by advocating for their position at trial. She has found that, because of the high cost of court battles, most clients are better served by out-of-court settlements. Court is always an option of last resort. If all negotiations fail, however, there is no one better to have on your side in a courtroom than Ms. McManus.

About Attorney Fees

Our firm's fees are very reasonable. Ms. McManus offers a free half-hour consultation (excluding mediation matters), in which you can ask questions for free and find out whether Ms. McManus is the right attorney for you and your legal situation.

Ms. McManus offers two types of family law services. She assists parties with paperwork and advice (after the initial consultation) as a consulting attorney at the current rate of $300 per hour. If you need more in-depth representation, she can be retained to represent you as your attorney. The retainer amount varies depending on the case, and Ms. McManus will give you a quote during your consultation.

Named Family Law Attorney of the Year in 2006 and 2007

Attorney Sandra J. McManus was born in Framingham, Massachusetts, and moved to California with her family in 1974. Ms. McManus is both a divorce lawyer and a volunteer Judge Pro Tem for the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Most lawyers must work for five years before being eligible to volunteer as a Judge Pro Tem, but because of Ms. McManus's skills and qualifications, she was allowed to start within a few months of becoming an attorney in 1994.

In addition to acting as an attorney for clients in divorce and family law cases, Ms. McManus offers neutral mediation services to help couples and individuals resolve disputes over child custody, alimony, child support, division of assets and other family issues.

Ms. McManus was recognized by the Consumer Business Review as the Family Law Attorney / Mediator of the Year for 2002 and Family Law Attorney of the Year for 2003. In 2004, she became a member of the National Registry of Who's Who in Executive and Professionals. She was also recognized by Business Review as Family Law Attorney of the Year for 2006 and 2007.

In her spare time, Ms. McManus enjoys volunteering and helping her community. She has been a member of the Cupertino Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) since 1985. She was named Volunteer of the Year by a local non-profit called Global Youth Resource Organization (GYRO) for the years 1993-1996.

Ms. McManus also served as legal counsel for the California Jaycees in 1999, 2000 and 2003. She is also a past state president for the California Jaycees (2002). Ms. McManus has received the highest honor a member can receive from Junior Chamber International (Senatorship) and the United States Junior Chamber (Ambassadorship). She also served as the first female president of the Tiger Corp (an auxiliary group to the California Jaycees). Ms. McManus has received numerous awards and recognition during her time with the Jaycees locally as well as nationally.

Since 1996, Ms. McManus has acted as a scoring judge for the high school mock trial competitions run by the Santa Clara County Bar Association and plans to do so for many years to come. She also served on the Judiciary Committee of the Santa Clara County Bar Association for seven years, the Minority Access Committee for three years, and the Law Related Education Committee for four years. She has also been a member of the Family Law Executive Committee since 1994 and an active member of the California State Bar Association and Santa Clara County Bar Association since 1994.
